This tutorial is written in HTML (hypertext markup language), a form of hypertext, which permits links between pages in the tutorial. This means that different pages can be viewed by clicking the mouse on a word or phrase that provides a link to another page. Such links are identified by underlining. When the mouse pointer is moved over them, the arrowhead pointer changes to a pointing hand.
These types of links are also used by the tutorial to provide a suggested sequence in which the pages should be viewed. This is given by order of the links on each main page.
Sometimes, phrases which may require further expansion will be given a link, meaning that you may click on them to be shown a more detailed explanation. You may return to the original page by clicking on the 'Back' icon of your hypertext editor, such as Netscape. Note that returning from exercises is done in this way also. Indeed, you should click on 'Back' after reading this section to return to the main tutorial page, or wherever you were when you selected to come here.
Should the information in the hypertext editor exceed the size of your window, the scroll bars on the right hand side will enable you to move up and down the window.
If you find the text too small to read, most html browsers will offer you a way to increase the size of the text in the display. In Netscape, for example, it is under the "Options: Preferences" menu.
