Recording User Input Urmila Kukreja William Stevenson Frank Ritter Version 1.0 1 August 2005 Revised 23sept20 to get new application -fer Recording User Input (RUI) is used to record user actions while interacting with interfaces on the Windows and Mac platforms. To run the tool under Windows, download it as an .exe (RUI.exe or Recorder.exe) onto your desktop and double click the icon to run it; or download the .zip file and unpack it. If it does not work, you will need to install the .Net framework. Directions and the (free) system are avilable at http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/framework1_1/ To run RUI on the Mac, download the zip file, and uncompress it. Directions on how to run it are in the README file. To choose the kind of actions in terms of mouse movements/keystrokes/mouse clicks (for the Windows version), check the appropriate boxes in the dialogue box that appears. Enter the subject number and use the "Create Log" button to decide the location of the log file. For both versions, when ready to record, press "Record" (Ctrl+R). To stop recording, use the "Stop Recording" button or (Ctrl+S). Use the "Replay" button to replay recorded actions. Action replay can be speeded up or slowed down.
